The House in the Hill grow several varieties of jujubes also known as Chinese date or red date.
The Li variety of jujube is the most widely known variety, it produces big, juicy fruit shaped like a plum which become sweeter as red & brown blotches appear.
It is a bit more delicate, in that the leaves can get sunburnt when the temperature reaches over 40C. It fruits every year.
Fresh jujubes are only available during the short harvest season of March-April.
